Article in AZ Foothills Magazine: Remodel in the Desert
Contemporary design doesn’t have to look cold or out of place in a desert setting. When I first came to Phoenix from Michigan, I saw coyotes with neckerchiefs—a bit scary! I thought that I would never have the opportunity to do a traditional or contemporary space again. Since then I’ve designed all of it in Arizona, as well as a variety of styles all around the country. What I’ve learned is that while certain parts of the country are noted for certain styles, there are no hard and fast rules. People should have the style that brings them enjoyment and then tweak it a bit to adapt to the their specific environment. Here is a wonderful example of what I’m speaking about. This is an article on a favorite project of mine in the desert in Scottsdale, Arizona. But, it was done for a couple who hail from Chicago and wanted urban contemporary. Enjoy and be sure to let us know what you think.!
